JJoomchi is a traditional Korean paper-crafting technique that transforms Hanji using only water, pressure, and the movement of your hands.

As layers of wet Hanji are kneaded together, the long mulberry fibers naturally intertwine, creating a beautifully textured paper with exceptional strength and durability.

Hanji is Korea's traditional handmade paper, crafted from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree.

For over a thousand years, Hanji has been valued for its exceptional strength, flexibility, and longevity. Its long natural fibers make it unlike ordinary paper.

Known for its remarkable durability, Hanji has been used for centuries in books, artwork, architecture, and everyday life throughout Korea.

Handmade Hanji

Every sheet in this kit is handcrafted in Korea from 100% mulberry fiber using traditional papermaking techniques.

Unlike machine-made paper, each sheet is individually formed by hand. The long natural fibers give Hanji its exceptional strength, flexibility, and durability, making it ideal for the Joomchi process.

Because every sheet is handmade, slight variations in size, thickness, texture, color, and deckled edges are natural characteristics that reflect the beauty of authentic Hanji.

The twelve carefully selected colors are designed to work beautifully together, making it easy to create rich textures and harmonious color combinations.

Color bleeding and slight color transfer between sheets may occur during the Joomchi process. This is a natural characteristic of traditionally dyed Hanji and does not affect the quality or durability of the finished paper.
